Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there a link between Compassion and AGASUVU?

Amazing Grace Pre and Primary School is one of Compassion's chosen schools so many of our children's are funded through Compassion's sponsorship programmes. In addition, we have our own sponsorship programme which you can find on our 'Get Involved' page if you would prefer to go directly through AGASUVU.

  • What is the most beneficial way of supporting the children in your community?

Paying school fees to allow children to live and be educated within the safety and love of Amazing Grace School is the best way to support our children. However, anything you do or give is greatly appreciated. Everything goes to helping children in Kisoro to thrive.

  • How does a child qualify for partial or full subsidy to attend Amazing Grace school?

A thorough home inspection is completed by our Community Development Officer to assess every child's exact needs.  Multiple follow up visits then occur in the following years.

  • How can I stay updated on the charity’s activities?

We do our best to keep our 'News' page as up-to-date as possible, so do check it out to see what we've been getting up to. To see the amazing work your money has been facilitating, do also have a look at our 'Projects' page and we produce an annual report which is also published on the website.

  • When is the best time to come visit Kisoro?

Anytime - we would love to meet you! In every Ugandan season there are advantages and disadvantages. Having said this, if you want sun, the dry season peaks in March/April time and if you fancy much cooler, wetter weather, the rainy season peaks in May/June time. But don't let our climate put you off what promises to be an incredible experience.

  • Can you choose between the projects to give to?

Yes you can! Get in touch with us and let us know where you might like your money to go to. All undirected donations are prayerfully considered and given to individuals most in need or projects that are the highest priority. Do check out our 'Projects' page for more information on what is particularly needed in Kisoro at the moment.

  • How can I trust that my donation is being used effectively?

AGASUVU's directors are committed to total transparency for all outside donors. An independent audit takes place every year and AGASUVU holds a partnership with a UK Charity Living word International (UK Charity 1165611) which also provides accountability. Finally, please see the photos and information on the website showing how our donors' money is being used.

  • Do you receive material donations rather than just monetary donations?

We do! Sports equipment, educational resources, school supplies, clothes, blankets - all is welcome. Our address is on our 'Contact Us' page if you would like to send something through the mail. We appreciate that this might prove very expensive so do get in touch and let us know what you'd like to send for it might be possible to fit a few things into the bags of our UK team (who are often visiting) if you are from the UK.

  • Can I fundraise for your charity?

Yes please! We are currently working on a fundraising pack for all our wonderful fundraisers. However, until then, do get creative - we love to hear about all the ways our supporters are raising money for AGASUVU and are so thankful for your every effort.
